A name you can trust to protect your business.
CCTV monitoring works by connecting motion detectors to cameras, linked to a 24-hour remote monitoring control centre. Using high speed broadband and wireless 4G connections, the integrated cameras and motion sensors will detect any movement onsite.
For those sites which we provide CCTV monitoring for, when the installed cameras send through an alarm activation our 24-Hour control centre picks up live images so a member of the monitoring team can ascertain whether the movement is a real threat. If the live images detect human movement, action will be taken to inform the intruder that they are being watched and recorded and that a security patrol response vehicle and/or emergency services will be dispatched; this is usually actioned via an onsite PA system. If necessary, our operators will alert the emergency services who provide a priority response as the incident has been visually confirmed.
How does Remote CCTV Monitoring Work?
The concept of CCTV monitoring involves the utilisation and programming of enhanced data analytics (IVA – intelligent video analytics) or the connection of video motion detectors to cameras and linking them to an online monitoring station that is open 24 hours a day.
Events can be detected onsite using enhanced CCTV analytics and/or motion sensors, to identify suspicious specific objects and patterns which use high-speed broadband and wireless 4G connections.
As part of our remote surveillance services, we can pick up actionable alarm events and live images from the cameras. The cause of the alarm event will be displayed to the operator who can then view other cameras on site and, in certain cases, issue an audible warning to the intruder that they have been detected and may shortly be apprehended if they remain. In effect, the officer in our control room determines if the event reported by the cameras means a real threat to the property.
We have full access to CCTV Controls.
CCTV alarm monitoring features are fully supported, which includes on screen PTZ control, event and log search, remote relay operation, multiple reference images, camera isolation, CCTV guard tour, video export (MPEG), image resolution control, scheduled site visits, listen in and speak to the site operator. It is possible to handle CCTV cameras as a video alarm mechanism with integrated signalling in places where these mechanisms are supported by third party equipment, or it could be handled as a task created by any type of event. We use innovative design and technology to manage false alarms and high volumes of duplicate alarms.
A live video feed of all the site cameras is used to monitor the situation and monitor the event. All actions from the operator are saved and recorded on our video management system. This alerts them that they are being watched, recorded and that emergency services or a mobile security response team will be dispatched. This is usually done via a PA system installed on-site to inform the intruder that he or she is being watched and recorded.
When our operators are unable to address the issue on-site, they will either alert our mobile response teams and/or emergency services who will provide priority response to this situation.
What are the benefits of Remote CCTV Monitoring?
There is a wider range of innovative security technology available now than there has ever been. Not only devices to detect when an event has occurred but preventative technology to stop it happening in the first place. For example, enhanced CCTV analytics can send an alarm to the operator when someone is loitering or entering a defined area of intrusion.
Ingenious though this technology undoubtedly is, the valuable information which it reports has to be communicated in order for it to be useful. Ideally, that would be to someone onsite who is suitably experienced. However, events may be infrequent, and the locally designated person may have other responsibilities.
On the other hand, if those events are communicated to a 24/7 receiving centre, they will be received and handled by experienced operators whose only task is to process and respond to alarms. Alarm events will be prioritised and service levels actively monitored for the best possible return on the site security technology –
- Technology never sleeps or goes on holiday.
- A control room can handle many thousands of remote sites
- An immediate and proportionate response can be provided for any incident
- The response service can be configured to match the exact needs of the user – for example, just sending a text message or calling a keyholder, or providing a full police response.
- The alarm event and the operator’s response actions can provide intelligence and evidence which may be useful in a subsequent incident investigation.
- Remote monitoring technology is constantly evolving and adopting new innovation. For example, as mentioned, the convergence of monitoring and surveillance not restricted to security - environmental, remote building management and social alarms can also be handled.
- Carry out scheduled checks and remote management for unmanned sites.
- An integrated monitoring platform also helps avoid the needs to run multiple software applications in the control room, so less need for additional resources to manage operations, training, support, space, heat, power and cost which running multiple systems would need.
- Costs only a fraction of an onsite guard or onsite monitoring control room.
- Having a remotely monitored CCTV system will allow you to address potential problems before they become a problem, as opposed to a local recording system or alarm system. The main benefit of a remotely monitored CCTV system, over a local recording system or alarm system, is that the monitoring centre is always aware of the status of your site. Preventive crime is simply more cost effective than responding to an incident after it has taken place.
- CCTV monitoring is a cost-effective method of securing your home or business, which can be operated 24 hours a day. The advantage of this type of security compared to traditional 24/7 security guard service, is that the installation cost is relatively low. Therefore, it is likely to deliver cost savings of up to 95% after the initial installation costs.
- In most cases, however, a hybrid approach proves to be the most effective solution. Many of our customers require physical security during the day to deal with staff, visitors, and contractors, however, at night when activity on site is low, a remote CCTV monitoring solution can either reduce or eliminate the need for physical security personnel, saving both our clients’ money and enhancing their existing security service
- A CCTV monitoring system reduces the risk of arson, theft, vandalism and other crimes by deterring them as effectively as possible.
- CCTV surveillance can be stipulated as a security measure by some insurers, and it can facilitate a reduction in insurance premiums.
What Remote CCTV Monitoring system do we use?
To ensure that our remote monitoring packages provide long-term value, we choose to operate the Bold Gemini platform from Bold
Communications, who are a UK Based company have been developing alarm communications and management systems for the alarm central station and ARC market for over 30 years.
Bold Gemini 2.0 is a new generation alarm monitoring software using leading development tools to create an integrated and innovative platform for the control room and security operations centre.
We believe that the Bold Gemini system is the best monitoring platform to operate from because not only is it a proven system in both video and alarm monitoring, but it provides us with the flexibility to build bespoke monitoring solutions which will suit our client’s needs better in the long-term.
Simple to use but powerful in its operation, Gemini automates the whole process, managing security, fire and CCTV and lone worker alarms, and guiding the operator through the response process and agreed KPI’s.
New technology is constantly being introduced. It is important that our chosen software platform is continually being developed to handle new monitoring innovations. Equally essential is the capability to handle existing legacy security technology. Using advanced signal monitoring, Gemini seamlessly combines old and new, supporting both continuity and innovation.
Bold Gemini CCTV software is the complete platform solution for handling video systems from multiple remote sites at a single workstation.
All popular CCTV systems such as Dahua, Hikvision Videcon and Heitel are supported with new interfaces being added continuously.
Live and alarm video is presented for the operator to make a rapid and effective evaluation, supported by site information, maps, plans and site instructions. From a single workstation, false alarms can be quickly closed down and genuine activations escalated for police or mobile guard response.
Gemini also enables the operator to remotely control the site – managing access, lighting and voice warnings over a PA system or audio enabled camera.
Supporting all CCTV products commonly used in remote video receiving centres – Gemini is an innovative and functional software solution for handling remote, event driven activations and high-level integration between DVRs, NVRs, video management software, alarm handling and task scheduling. High level integration links areas and zones with multiple device types, actions, schedules, and contingencies.
Innovation and Integration
The Gemini CCTV software presents the alarm information, video and handling instructions in a common interface, regardless of the type of system being monitored. Operators only need learn how to use one software application, providing efficiency, consistency and minimising training requirements.
Constant movement at site can cause alarm activated CCTV to generate very high volumes of signals. This can cause difficulties both operators, the network and systems. Gemini manages this by identifying problem sites and providing a range of automation tools to minimise these effects before operations are impacted.
Managing multiple systems in the Gemini platform improves the speed and quality of event handling, reduces administration and licencing costs, power, energy and space requirements, improves compliance, and rationalises the need for technical support for different software programs.
What Systems can we support?
Bold Gemini supports integration to a wide range of third-party security and safety products, commonly used in alarm receiving centres and control rooms.
New interfaces are always in development and we Bold specialise in custom integration. Please enquire if a product you are interested in is not listed below.
