What You Will Learn
The CCTV Operator Training Course will cover the following:
- CCTV Operator Training Unit 1 – Working In The Private Security Industry.
- CCTV Operator Training Unit 2 – Working As A CCTV Operator.
- CCTV Operator Training Unit 3 – Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment.
CCTV Operator Training Unit 1
Working in the Private Security Industry. This unit covers those areas of content that are common across different sub-sectors at Level 2: door supervision; security guarding: CCTV operations; vehicle immobilisation; and cash and valuables in transit. This unit will be assessed as per the SIA requirement for assessment set out in the document Introduction to Learning Leading Towards Licence-linked Qualifications.
CCTV Operator Training Unit 2
Working As A CCTV Operator. In this unit, learners will find out about the key documentation used in CCTV as well as aspects of confidentiality and security that are essential in this industry. They will learn about key legislation and about what their roles and responsibilities will be. Learners will be taught about the CCTV equipment available and how it is used during incidents. Finally, they will cover those emergency procedures that are specific to CCTV control rooms, building on what they have learned about emergencies in Unit 1.
CCTV Operator Training Unit 3
Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment. This unit covers the practical skills required to become a licensed CCTV Operator and builds on the knowledge and understanding covered in Unit 1 and 2. Building upon what they have covered in Unit 2, in Unit 3 learners will learn about functional checks and about how to operate CCTV equipment in order to record images and ensure that evidential requirements are met. They will develop the skills required to deal with incidents, including giving descriptions, locating and tracking individuals and performing lost contact drills.
Assessment: This unit will be assessed practically in a CCTV control room environment and internally marked by the centre.
